Week 6

Before we start the class, my lecturer ask to discuss about week 5 topic which is assessment and evaluation. During the discussion, we are discussing about what is data, evaluation, assessment, type of assessment and CIPP model. Discussion activity during class in very interesting because, we can recall and discuss about what we have learn and this activity also is very effective towards us. 

After finish discussing about week 6 topic, today we are learn about education in Malaysia.  Education system in Malaysia is not very far away from the others develop countries such as United State, United Kingdom and many more. the comparison of Malaysia and Europe education is according to own experiences. The education system in Malaysia is centralized and top-down which is overseen by the Ministry of Education (MoE). Besides, each state and federal territory has an Education Department to co-ordinate educational matters. Education in Malaysia broadly consists of a set of stages:

1.      Pre-school -  curriculum is un-formal which is they learn and focus on social skills among                            children. This is the school for young children age 4-6 years and it is not a                                compulsory term.

2.      Primary education - it is compulsory for 7-12 years old kids. 

                                     - There are 3 types of primary education which is Multilingual public                                            schools, Private schools, and Home education or Homeschooling.

3.      Secondary education - compulsory for 13-17 years old students. 

                                         - the students will be sit for PT3 exmination for from 3 students and                                             SPM for form 5 students.

4.      Tertiary education - Tertiary education is heavily subsidised by the government.

                                      - will be sit for STPM examination.

5.      Postgraduate - for every ages

                            - College, Polytechnic or University

In addition, all international school is private school but not all private school is international school. These are the types of curriculum they use is IB World, US Curriculum and British curriculum. Besides, there are 2 different types of government-run primary schools which is National schools à normal government schools and National type schools à vernacular schools which have either Chinese or Tamil as the main language for instruction. Furthermore, Cluster school is one of types of secondary education. These school is a high achieving school. There are a specific terms and standard achievement of academic or curriculum to join the school. Besides, there are using GPA grade and very well in achievement such as MRSM.
